The 68 327 block is the large journal block. It's a basicly a 350 block with a 307 crank.

if you are looking for a 327 ci motor, using a 327 crank will require oversized bearings, or bearing spacers to make up for the bore diff. the 350 has a larger crank main than the 327 did. and you will need the 327 pistons too of course.

Also, some 327’s and 350’s have the same main bearing journal size, but most don’t. Generally speaking, the 1967 and earlier 327’s (most of them) have about a 1/6 inch smaller journal size than the 350’s.
An option is to use a widely-available 350 engine as a core for rebuilding, but a 1968/1969 327 or 1968 to 1973 307 large-journal crankshaft will be required. As an alternative to that, a new crankshaft can be purchased with the proper bearing journal sizes and 3.25-inch stroke for the 327 displacement from the 350 block, but different pistons.
It's a large journal 327 crank in a 72 high nickel 4 bolt main 350 block. This is a great combo, but if you have to get a crank seems buying a cast steel 350 would be the way to go to use your existing pistons.
Nov 24, 2006 · As you have heard, a 327 crank won’t clear in a early 283 block. As for the "327/383 in a 350 block" thing build the 327 because that is what you have. If you decide in the future you want a 383 , build it but don’t tear down a perfectly good 327 to do it just find another 350 block,IMHO.
